Jakare Liveaboard

  • Day 1: Arrival and Pulau Sebayur

    In the morning, guests are picked up from the hotel or the airport in Labuan Bajo, and they board the Jakare in the port. Snacks and welcome beverages will be provided as the cruise director introduces the crew and gives a briefing on safety, onboard operations, and the overall schedule. After that, guests will be brought to their cabins so they may unpack, rest, and prepare for the cruise to begin. Jakaré will cruise about 10NM towards Pulau Sebayur. This period of sailing is typically a wonderful opportunity to rest and get an overview of the activities and cruise. The guests will become acquainted with the equipment and enjoy snorkelling in the coral garden or exploring the stunning local beaches in a kayak or SUP.

  • Day 2: Komodo Dragons & Pulau Padar

    Jakare will set sail early in the morning towards Pulau Kambing, arriving at the mooring area around 7:30 AM, in time to begin our dawn walk before the heat sets in. Guests will be transferred to shore at Loh Buaya via dinghy, where they’ll be greeted by park rangers at the pier and escorted to the national park office for a briefing. Accompanied by a ranger, the scenic walk through the Rinca savannah lasts from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the chosen route. Komodo dragons, wild boars, and deer are often spotted near the ranger station. After the hike, guests can enjoy a refreshing swim around Jakare before breakfast. Next, we’ll head to Pulau Padar (12NM) for snorkeling, beach exploration, or a kayak/SUP ride along the untouched coastline. For the more active guests, a sunset hike to Padar's viewpoint will be organized, followed by dinner on board Jakare.

    Diver Options:
    • Dive at Pulau Tengah (for advanced only), this is a dynamic dive, a pinnacle well exposed in the middle of the main Komodo current stream. The walls are full of soft and hard corals and depending on the conditions, big schools of fishes can be spotted there. Turtle, sharks, jacks and other pelagic fiches play on the edge of the current
    • Dive at Three Sisters: located south east of Padar, the dive site consists of 3 main big submerged rocks ranging from 3 to 30m water depth. Well known for the nudibranchs and critters diversity but also for schools of yellow and blue fusiliers, coral fishes and as well as some pelagic fishes.
    • Alternatively, dive Padar Wreck just north of Padar Kecil with lots of sealife and kritters.

  • Day 3: Pulau Padar & Pink Beach

    Wake up early and hike to Padar for a breathtaking sunrise over the Komodo Archipelago. Afterward, return to Jakare for a hearty breakfast and a refreshing swim around the boat to cool off. Depending on conditions, snorkeling may be arranged after breakfast. Next, Jakare will head north, stopping at Namo for diving and snorkeling. This off-the-beaten-path location offers excellent diving and snorkeling opportunities, with one or two dives organized here. After Namo, we’ll visit the famous Pantai Merah (Pink Beach), where you can explore the stunning beach, snorkel, or dive. Once moored, various activities like beach walks, island exploration, or snorkeling will be offered. Enjoy a sunset on the beach before returning to Jakare for dinner.

    Diver Options:
    • Padar: Pilarsteen, a nice wall covered with colourful corals and sponges and full of marine life like large schools of fusiliers. The landscape is really interesting with caves and swim throughs at different depths.
    • Dive Namo: often with great visibility, lots of marine life, soft and hard coral. Sharks and turtles can be spotted there.
    • Dive pantai merah or Pink Drift: this colourful and easy dive has a lot to offer, nice coral, school of fusiliers and a good selection of critters.

  • Day 4: Central Komodo

    Wake up early and set sail toward Central Komodo, enjoying breakfast on the way. Jakare will anchor at Pulau Siabah or nearby. Divers will take the dinghy to Karang Makassar, a famous manta ray cleaning and feeding station. This rewarding snorkeling spot, located in 8-15m depth, offers the chance to see manta rays and eagle rays as they gather for cleaning and feeding. It’s a spectacular, not-to-be-missed sight. After a relaxing lunch on board, Jakare will head to Pulau Tatawa, where snorkeling may be organized if conditions are good. The site is known for its healthy corals and abundant marine life, with frequent turtle sightings. Finally, Jakare will sail north to Pulau Gili Lawa (10NM), anchoring in a tranquil bay. If you're lucky, you may spot wild boars or local deer on the beaches or savannah of Komodo Island.

    Diving options:
    • Karang Makassar or Mawan to see the Manta rays
    • Batu Bolong for a colourful explosion: Batu Bolong is an emerging pinnacle in the middle of the channel and offers current dive on this dynamic reef facing directly the current. The soft and hard corals are really colourful and healthy, the all food chain is on open display there, from reef fishes feeding on rich waters full of nutrients to big pelagic including black tip and white tip sharks and giant trevally. Schools of yellow fins barracudas, yellow snappers, silver trevally are very common as well as dogtooth tunas. A must not to be missed.

  • Day 5: North Komodo, Gili Lawa and Return to Labuan Bajo

    After an early wake-up, guests will hike to the Gili Lawa main viewpoint to catch a stunning sunrise over the Komodo Archipelago (subject to island reopening for trekking). Next, snorkel at Golden Passage, a current-exposed site between Gili Lawa Darat and Komodo Island. Both sides feature vibrant soft and hard corals and abundant marine life, including turtles and occasionally pelagic hunting fish. Jakare will then head to the east side of Gili Lawa, anchoring in a peaceful bay between Gili Lawa Darat and Gili Lawa Laut. If conditions are favorable, a snorkeling session may be offered at the Caldera Dive entry or exit points, known for spectacular underwater scenes, including pelagic fish, manta rays, and turtles. In the early afternoon, Jakare will sail east towards Labuan Bajo (16NM). Guests can share and review photos or films from their unforgettable trip. A small farewell ceremony will be held on board before disembarking for the airport or hotel around 4 PM.

    • Crystal Rock: named for its usual crystal clear waters, this dive site is an exposed pinnacle directly facing current and attracting a lot of marine life including reef fishes themselves attracting pelagic such as reef sharks, grey sharks and giant trevally. The dive site is large enough to accommodate all diving levels, with also a large number of small creatures to be found in the less exposed gentle slopes corals.
    • Coldron: the Coldron is one of the most spectacular dives of Komodo. The dive site is actually a passage between Gili Lawa Darat and Gili Lawa Laut creating an interesting topography and strong current that attracts a lot of sea life and have stunning hard coral gardens on each side of the path. Eagle ray and manta rays can be spotted there as well as lots of pelagic fishes like trevally, tunas and others. The Coldron is also home of a lot of tiny critters such as frogfishes and nudibranchs.

  • Day 1: Pulau Taupan - Bomba

    Day dedicated to the discovery of the southwestern point of Togian around Bomba which offers magnificent snorkelling and diving sites, Among them, the superb sites of Taupan, Goa Goa and Bomba Atoll which will allow you to discover three type of coral reef in the same area, namely fringing reef, atoll reef and coral reef. This first day will offer you the opportunity to dive from fabulous drop offs and practice the macro photography. In the late afternoon, the beach of Bomba will be a perfect place to watch and ponder on a beautiful sunset.

  • Day 2: Pulau Taupan - Pulau Waleabahi South

    You will be able to visit the village of Bomba. Sail to Waleabahi and on the way stop at the B24 wreck in the south of Togean Island and possibly other dive sites like donut Reef or Saddle Back Reef. Sail the southeastern part of Togean. Anchorage will be near Cape Tanjung Balikapata on the island of Pulau Waleabahi.

  • Day 3: Pulau Waleabahi South - Pulau Waleabahi North

    Day will be spent discovering the island of Waleabahi which offers many opportunities for exploration diving in this little-known area. Mid-afternoon the Jakaré will sail to the northern part of the island.

  • Day 4: Pulau Waleabahi North - Pulau Malenge

    Morning sail to the island of Malenge. Visit the village of Papan. Activities will be organised according to the timing.

  • Day 5: Pulau Malenge - Pulau Una Una

    Fantastic sunrise in the village of Papan. Morning hike with the first light of the day in the forest with a local guide to discover the preserved island of Malenge which offers a remarkable biodiversity. Sail to Una Una Island and dive on the way to California Reef. Mooring near the village of Una Una.

  • Day 6: Pulau Una Una

    Day of diving or snorkeling on the selection of the most beautiful sites of Una Una. The volcanic island reveals exceptional dives among the most beautiful in Indonesia.

  • Day 7: Pulau Una Una

    Visit the village of Una Una in the morning and then again a day of diving or snorkeling on the selection of the most beautiful sites of Una Una.

  • Day 8: Pulau Una Una, Kadidiri and Back to Ampana

    A morning hike, dedicated to discover the active volcano Una Una with your local guide. Alternatively diving is possible on Una Una for those who wish to. Jakare will then sail toward Ampana and may stop over at Kadidiri and other dive / snorkelling sites on the way back

  • Day 1: Day of arrival

    Arrival at Ternate airport. Transfer to the boat and breakfast on board. Introduction to the crew members and general briefing about life on board, security, and general rules to be followed. Set up of the dive equipment 1or 2 dives in Ternate and Tidore

  • Day 2: Pulau Hiri

    Hiri is the northernmost island in a chain of six volcanic islands located off the western coast of Halmahera. About two hours from Ternate, its conical shape offers stunning landscapes and excellent dive sites.

    Tomajiko: This dive site is best explored as the first dive of the day due to its dramatic drop-off. The reef is incredibly healthy, with an abundance of soft corals, sea fans, and large barrel sponges. It’s a hotspot for schooling fish and has great potential for spotting pelagics, including numerous blue-spotted stingrays.

    Batu Hitam: Located slightly north of Hiri, Batu Hitam features a striking black rock formation and a sloping reef teeming with fish. Frequent sightings include schooling surgeonfish and fusiliers, as well as bumphead parrotfish and Spanish mackerel. It’s a vibrant site offering a diverse underwater experience.

    Pillonga: Situated west of Tifore, Pillonga is a shallow reef, ideal for a relaxing final dive of the day. The area offers a peaceful setting and rich marine life, perfect for winding down after a day of exploration.

  • Day 3: Patintie strait

    The Patintie Strait is a breathtaking destination for both snorkeling and scuba diving. Positioned between Bacan Island and Halmahera, it is influenced by powerful currents that nourish the coral reefs, promoting a healthy renewal of marine life. Though still relatively undiscovered, this area is expected to become one of Indonesia’s premier diving locations. Two full days are dedicated to exploring its waters.

    Proco Channel is an exciting dive site, featuring a submerged underwater ridge between Nanas and Saleh Kecil.

    Selat Kecil, the narrow channel between Saleh Kecil and Saleh Besar, boasts vibrant coral formations on a gentle white sand slope.

    Tanjung Saleh Kecil offers a more relaxed dive or snorkeling opportunity, ideal for those looking to unwind and enjoy the underwater beauty at a slower pace.

    For the evening, Jakare will anchor in a tranquil bay on Saleh Besar, surrounded by pristine mangroves—an excellent spot for birdwatching and enjoying the serene natural surroundings.

  • Day 4: Patintie strait

    Snorkeling and diving in the Strait continue with more stunning sites to explore. Tobias Point is a rock formation situated north of Saleh Besar, where an underwater ridge extends along its eastern side, supporting a diverse and thriving marine ecosystem. The Tower is a point located on the Halmahera coast, directly across from Saleh Besar, offering excellent diving opportunities. Batu Jabu is another rock in the middle of the channel that separates Halmahera from Saleh Besar, teeming with marine life. Afterward, we set sail overnight towards the southern islands of the Goraichi Archipelago.

  • Day 5: Pigaraja

    This small island close to the southern coast of Bacan Island is adjacent to the village of Pigaraja, flanked by coconut plantations. We’ll do three dives there including on a wreck of a small transport boat from Copra. Late night sailing to the Strait of Patintie.

  • Day 6: Babang

    Start the day with fantastic muck diving, followed by an afternoon land tour of Bacan Island. We'll take a scenic drive to explore the charming town of Labuha, where guests can experience the vibrant local market, visit gem factories, and explore spice plantations. After returning to the boat, we'll head out for a night dive on the sandy slopes of Babang, offering an exceptional opportunity for nocturnal underwater exploration.

  • Day 7: Goraichi Archipelago

    The northern Goraichi Islands is a group of islands comprising Siko, Gafi, Laigoma and Tomakomafatu. With beautiful sceneries, healthy coral reefs and pristine beaches, it is a small paradise for divers as well as for non-divers. We will sail back to Ternate during the night.

  • Day 8: Ternate – Departure day

    Breakfast and transfer to the airport or hotel of your choice.

  • Day 1: Arrival in Sorong

    Welcome to West Papua! Upon arrival at Sorong Airport, the gateway to the Raja Ampat Archipelago, you'll be greeted and transferred to the port to board your Indonesian schooner, Jakaré. Enjoy a welcome cocktail, followed by a tour of the vessel and settling into your cabin. Before departure, the crew will go over safety procedures and provide details about your exciting cruise to Raja Ampat. Your journey begins towards Waigeo, the largest island in Raja Ampat, connected to Kri and situated east of Mansuar Island. In the late afternoon, experience your first dive in the crystal-clear waters of Yenbuba Bay, surrounded by tropical forests, followed by a leisurely stroll through the village.

  • Day 2: Kri & Mansuar Islands

    Wake up to your first sunrise at sea. Throughout the day, enjoy a mix of scuba diving and snorkeling sessions amidst vibrant coral gardens. In Yenbuba Bay, you'll encounter turtles and colorful fish gliding through the stunning corals. Take some time to relax on the beach and explore the village. Further along, the waters around Cape Kri boast 374 species of marine life, offering one of the most diverse underwater landscapes in Raja Ampat. Your third dive takes you to Saunderek, followed by a visit to the village where numerous local encounters await. As the sun sets, sail northward, crossing the Equator and setting course for the Wayag Archipelago for a night of peaceful sailing.

  • Day 3: Wayag Archipelago

    Wake up in the heart of the Wayag Archipelago, one of the most stunning locations in Raja Ampat. With its turquoise atolls and emerald karst mountains, Wayag is made up of over 600 islets, offering the world’s richest underwater biodiversity. Disembark on Wayag Island for a hike to the summit of Mount Pindito, where you'll be rewarded with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world. Afterward, enjoy two dives and a variety of aquatic activities, including kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding. Underwater, you'll encounter majestic manta rays at a secret spot and explore giant clams over a meter wide. The day ends anchored in a serene lagoon, offering an unforgettable night’s rest.

  • Day 4: Kawe Island & Aljui Bay

    At dawn, set sail from the Wayag Islands aboard your elegant schooner, heading towards Kawe Island. As you cross the equator once more, you'll arrive at the day's prime diving and snorkeling locations. At Black Rock, dive into the coral gardens, where you’ll swim alongside majestic Napoleon wrasse. Continuing west along the coast of Kawe Island, you’ll reach Eagle Rock, a spot known for sightings of manta rays gliding gracefully and carpet sharks hiding in the reefs. Your journey then takes you southeast to Aljui Bay, where you’ll anchor in front of a serene pearl farm for the night.

  • Day 5: Isle of Wofoh

    After several days at sea, everyone is now comfortably settled on board, and a sense of harmony fills the boat. Before continuing your journey, visit a pearl farm to learn about the fascinating process of cultivating and harvesting these precious Pacific gems. The adventure then moves on to Wofoh Island, where you can enjoy your favorite activities—whether it's lounging on pristine beaches, snorkeling, or diving. Turtles are often spotted in this paradise. Kayak along deserted white sand beaches, and use your mask and snorkel to explore the expansive gorgonian coral gardens beneath the surface. In the afternoon, sail southwest towards Maniafun Island, where you'll anchor for the night.

  • Day 6: Pienemu Island

    As the rest of the guests sleep, the boat sets sail and anchors at Pienemu Island with the first light of day. Today’s itinerary includes two renowned dive spots: Keruo Channel, a stunning passage between two islands, and Melissa's Garden, a sanctuary for the elusive wobbegong, or carpet sharks. Beneath the surface, you'll find an untouched underwater world, teeming with vibrant corals and marine life. After a delicious lunch, the boat anchors near the entrance to a serene lagoon. Disembark for a walk and explore the striking karst mountains of Pienemu, where the lush, unspoiled nature is as breathtaking above the water as it is below. In the afternoon, the cruise continues to Yangello Island, nestled within a peaceful mangrove. Enjoy a gourmet dinner on board, set against a spectacular and tranquil backdrop.

  • Day 7: Yangello & Arborek Islands

    The morning begins with diving and kayaking as you explore the mangroves of Yangello. Then, aboard the schooner, sail towards Arborek Island, where you'll find exceptional snorkeling. The waters are teeming with gentle sea turtles and gray reef sharks. Take a stroll through the local Papuan village, and unwind on the beach. In the afternoon, embark on a trip to Manta Sandy, a natural cleaning station where manta rays come to be groomed by wrasses and butterfly fish. Witness the majestic black manta rays performing a graceful underwater ballet, and from the boat, you might even see them leaping from the water. As the sailboat continues its journey to Mioskon Island, relax and enjoy the stunning scenery from the deck.

  • Day 8: Raja Central

    Situated near Mansuar Island, the day begins at dawn with a series of spectacular dives at renowned spots such as Mioskon, Blue Magic, Sardines Reef, and other incredible locations. This part of the Strait of Dampier is known for its currents, offering a pristine seabed filled with untouched corals and vibrant schools of fish, including the elusive pygmy seahorses. Afterward, aboard your comfortable schooner, set sail for Friwen Island, a perfect base for exploring the surrounding waters. As the sun sets, savor an exquisite dinner on board, and spend the night anchored in this idyllic setting.

  • Day 9: Raja Central

    Wake up early for a hike through the jungle, where you'll be surrounded by the sounds of the birds of paradise, an endemic species of West Papua. After a scenic ride in a dugout canoe, enjoy a 30-minute walk with your local guide. The day continues with a dive at Mike’s Point or Friwen Wall in the Strait of Dampier, where you'll witness a vibrant display of colorful marine life. Nearby Gam Island is famous for its rich biodiversity, with an incredible coral plateau teeming with species. In the afternoon, return to Friwen Island for a swim, snorkel, or simply relax on the boat's deck. As evening falls, enjoy a special beach barbecue prepared just for you.

  • Day 10: Disembarkation

    By the time you wake up, the boat will have been sailing for several hours towards Sorong. Spend your final moments aboard this unique vessel, reflecting on the journey. The morning is dedicated to chatting with the crew who accompanied you throughout the Raja Ampat adventure. Have your logbook signed, exchange photos, and swap contact details. In the early afternoon, disembark and return to the mainland. Say your farewells to the crew and meet your private driver for your transfer to the airport or hotel. This marks the end of our services.
